Privacy Policy
Who we are
Our website address is: https://workening.com. The website is designed and managed by Alexander Floe Bjerkvik. You can contact me by using the contact form or blueponder@live.co.uk
Lessons Learnt from Edward Snowden and WikiLeaks
At Workening we don’t want to give people false impressions about anything, so lets “get real” about privacy for a moment. If you really want more control over your personal data, then you should contact military and intelligence agencies about that concern. Sure, you could send us a request to have your personal data deleted, however we would be very surprised if there were no duplicate of that data in some server managed by a military-intelligence agency. Worse, it could be the case that they have systems in place that detect when someone requests GDPR deletion of data, meaning you could achieve the polar opposite of your intended result. Instead of you getting more privacy by sending such requests, you might ironically draw attention to yourself from such agencies. We live in a time where data is the most valuable commodity, and it would be irresponsible for us to give you some illusion that us normal citizens or SMB’s have reclaimed power over it.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
If you dislike websites collecting data on users, we advice you stop using this website. We collect data in order to tailor and improve the user experience, and for marketing purposes. We also rely on third-parties that also collect data on our users, e.g. Google. This website collects data visitors submit by using the contact form. Cookies are also collected. We also analyse data to better tailor our content with what our users want. We also use various plugins to make the site better for users, and some of those plugins collect data.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms
Any information you decide to send to us by using our contact forms is stored in order to address your inquiry. The data is sent to Google Gmail, which is our email client of choice, and is stored on their servers until its manually deleted. Such data is only deleted at the request of users.
Cookies
What is a cookie? A cookie is a file containing an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that is sent by a web server to a web browser and is stored by the browser. The identifier is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. Cookies may be either “persistent” cookies or “session” cookies: a persistent cookie will be stored by a web browser and will remain valid until its set expiry date, unless deleted by the user before the expiry date; a session cookie, on the other hand, will expire at the end of the user session, when the web browser is closed. Cookies do not typically contain any information that personally identifies a user, but personal information that we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies. Cookies can be used by web servers to identify and track users as they navigate different pages on a website and identify users returning to a website.
WordPress cookie: If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
